Golent Gaffer For sale £14.500 ONO.
This Golent Gaffer was purchased as a hull in 2007, the hull was built by a professional boat builder in Exeter for his own use, but like most projects it got no further than the hull. I purchased it in 2007 and spent 5 years lovingly completing the build, with great attention to all the details the pictures illustrate. I finished her in 2012 and have had a great time sailing her for two seasons, so much so that my wife and I now would like to extend our sailing ground. This however has highlighted the fact that the dimensions and facilities within ... read more

James Miller built many fishing boats at his yard in St Monance on the Fife coast, the largest over 70′. He also built some very fine yachts to various UK designer’s plans working from the 1930′s through to the sale of the yard and subsequent closure in the 1970′s.
The yard used their knowledge of the Scottish fishing boat, famous for it’s sea-worthiness, to produce a range of motor sailers, the Fifers, which becams very popular and were built from the late 1950′s through to the end of the yard’s production.

This Gaff Schooner (2 masts) is an incomplete project consisting of a substantial ferro-concrete hull complete with deck frames and hard wood bulkheads. The project is incomplete due to terminal illness of the builder, who was a very accomplished semi professional boat builder. The design is based on a 1900 North American East Coast Nantucket fishing schooner. The hull was very carefully constructed to a high specification and is well recorded by detailed stage by stage photographs. The glass-cement hull and centreboard case are complete and so too are the oak rudder and tiller and oak centreb... read more
