Tulip is a pristine example of a Dutch Zeeschouw sailing barge that is approximately 8m. Built in the 1970s with a 4 cylinder diesel engine with shaft drive. Tulip has a flat bottom barge hull with hard chine, transom bow and transom stern. Timber rudder and leeboards are fitted. The hull and deck construction is of welded mild steel, the coachroof also has welded steel sides alongside a timber top and the boat underwent a full repaint in 2024. Tulip was built by a lecturer in Amsterdam and it took him 8 years, the result of this is that it is cleverly designed and well built, with the simple but elegant design making the boat perform remarkably well. The current owners have cared impeccably for her since 2009, with numerous surveys having been done and any work noted on these, completed.
The engine is a Mercedes OM636, with a new exhaust fitted in recent years alongside a depth sounder and windlass that were added. The propeller shaft, outer baring and thrust baring were all replaced in 2023.
The rigging of Tulip is the tradition gaff cutter type. The main sail having three reefing points, a large staysail two and a small jib.
Down below the saloon contains woodpaneling and a charcoal heater.
She is currently now laid up shore mast down with an all over cover to protect her great condition.
