Shepperton Marina Surrey UK|
Built in 1933 to ferry grain on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, later converted into a beautiful light airy living space. The barge is fully functional and is ready for you now!
61’ length by 14’ beam (18 x 4.2 m). Current boat safety certificate, river licence, hull survey and insurance. A39 is the barge's original name.
Stunning 22’ open plan living area with fitted kitchen, and a separate master bedroom, bathroom, two toilets (tank and composting), store and engine room.
The barge was converted to be off grid with an Outback control system with solar panels supplying 12v (lighting), 24v (fridge, immersion heaters, pumps) and 240v (power sockets).
A large wood burning range in the living area provides a stove, oven and heating to the 8 radiators throughout the boats rooms. And also, there is a fitted kitchen with fridge, sink, gas hob and hot water tank with electric immersion heaters.
The barge is ready to explore the nearby rivers and waterways powered by a beautiful old Gardener 2LW (c.1950), an attraction valued at around £15k. The 2LW is sought after by many owners of old working canal boats and they are increasingly rare.
The barge is moored at Shepperton Marina. Shepperton Marina has excellent facilities and is situated in a delightful backwater between Shepperton and Sunbury locks, the Marina enjoys a peaceful air of rural tranquillity. London is only some 30 minutes away by road and direct access to the river offers a variety of easy cruising options. The Marina is open 7 days a week with very helpful staff, car parking and secure access. Facilities include cafe, chandlery, toilets with hot showers, wifi, laundry, pump out, fuel, gas cylinders and discounts on meals in the local area. Shepperton is also a short walk or cycle across the river to Walton-upon-Thames with high street shopping, cafes and riverside pubs.
