Iron keel
In 2024, by an experienced professional - all old antifouling was stripped off, the hull fully prepared and 6 coats of VC Tar epoxy applied. The iron keel was wrapped with West system cloth and epoxy to eliminate any future rusting. Then all antifouled using Micron 350 antifouling – the best to avoid future build-up of antifouling. This racing standard underwater hull finish results in optimised hull speed.

The combination of 28hp engine and autoprop gives lots of power for heavy weather and lower revs (less noise and wear) in light weather. Autoprop also eliminates prop walk when maneuvering. The 28hp engine is a very significant improvement from the manufacturer’s basic specification 20hp engine, and the autoprop is a further significant improvement for motoring, sailing and motor-sailing. A new autoprop is estimated to cost approx. £3,500.
Fuel usage averages 2 to 2.5 litres per hour.

Sails:
Hyde Mainsail 2022 - Cross Cut 7.77 Marblehead LA cloth white Dacron
Fully battened with roller bearing batten cars
Hyde Furling genoa (2019) - Cross cut construction in 8.03oz High Modulus Low Aspect woven polyester including foam luff strips (for improved shape when partially rolled) and camber stripes.
These sails are higher specification than the standard Elvstrom originally supplied. The improved material specification should provide better shape holding and life. The fully battened main allows to main to drop into the boom sail enclosure without someone having to go on deck to haul it down.
