"Fame" was constructed circa 1960 in Banff to a traditional larch on oak design as a lifeboat for a trawler. First motorised in 1973, under her current ownership she has been re-engined in 2020 with a Lister 2 cylinder air cooled Diesel engine and an LH150 gear box as well as a new stainless exhaust. "Fame" is in sound condition and is ready for sea, however an enthusiast may find room for further refurbishment. She comes equipped with a roadworthy trailer. Steam Tug which has been in our family since the 70's.
She has been featured in the Steam Boat Assoc. publication "The Funnel"a number of times. Engine dates from before 1900 and had Stephenson linkage added at later stage for forward and reverse. Selling due to lack of time and other projects, it would be great to get her back on the water. The boiler and PRV would need certification for insurance and it would be best to bring a trailer as the one that she is on dates from when we first got her.

This gig is an excellent example of Victorian boat building by George Dunton of Shepperton 120 years ago and has been carefully maintained by its present owners for the last 40 years.
