Midnight Blues: A Charming Narrowboat with Full Residential Mooring in Central London
Step into the idyllic life of canal-side living with Midnight Blues, a 32’ traditional narrowboat nestled in the serene Wenlock Basin residential mooring in Angel, London. This tranquil location is home to just 15 boats, offering a true sanctuary from the city’s hustle and bustle while still being just a short walk from all the amenities you could need.
The open-plan, studio-style layout of Midnight Blues offers a cosy yet functional living space thoughtfully designed for comfort and practicality. Enter via the cruiser stern with a removable, covered outdoor deck and seating area—perfect for storing muddy boots or enjoying alfresco breakfasts in the summer. Step into the main cabin, where you’ll find a shower with hot running water on the left and a separate WC on the right. The kitchen has everything you need for comfortable living, including a sink, a fridge with a separate freezer compartment, a gas oven, a hob with gas and induction rings, storage cupboards and drawers, and a breakfast bar with stools. Midnight Blues has all pots, pans, crockery, a coffee machine, a kettle, etc.
Relax on the sofa with built-in storage drawers opposite a fully functional wood burner. With a pull-down projector screen, smart projector, and onboard Wi-Fi, you can cosy up and enjoy a film by the fire. The boat’s bow features a fixed double bed with a custom memory foam mattress. On summer mornings, throw open the bow doors to enjoy stunning views of Regent’s Canal or step out onto the small bow deck with a coffee.
Initially built in 1975, Midnight Blues underwent a complete refit in 2021, which included a full hull survey with all recommended welding completed, bare metal repainting, and blacking in dry dock. The refit also added a marine ply subfloor with insulation and engineered oak flooring. The interior hull was cleaned and treated with anti-corrosion paint, while the kitchen was modernised with updated appliances, solid oak worktops, and contemporary fittings. The boat features blown air heating powered by mains electricity or gas, an onboard power system with a Victron MultiPlus inverter, and energy-efficient LED lighting. Midnight Blues comes with a newly issued Boat Safety Certificate, valid until December 2028, and the engine was fully serviced in 2024, including installing a new starter battery for reliable performance.
