Welcome to Bumblebee ('BB'), a much loved home, a stunning and immaculate 70ft x 12’6ft widebeam. You won't find this type of boat, it's a one-off 'raised gunnel' version which sits just under 1 ft taller than any other widebeam, yet still fits through all bridges/tunnels etc.
Built and delivered in July 2019, she underwent a complete fit out until we moved in towards the end of 2019.
BB comes fully kitted out and furnished with everything that you’ll ever need to just jump on and start your life on the water, whether you want to cruise or simply moor up, Bumblebee quite literally offers a ‘home from home’ experience with everything you could want from a regular house with the added bonus of being able to move it or stop wherever you want.
Stern Deck
The Stern is a multi-use living area, it’s covered with a professionally fitted ‘All Seasons’ canopy/pram hood, with plenty of zips and foldable areas, this hood can fold down within 30 seconds. It's most definitely our favourite living area during the summer and perfect for socialising, especially for kicking back with a nice glass of wine. The storage lockers are wrapped around the back of the deck to provide excellent storage space and also double up as seating. These are dressed in eye-catching wrap-around custom fitted cushions with a striking lemon yellow piping throughout, bringing in the look and feel of the boat and matching the bow and stern doors as well as the coachline paintwork. There is seating for 8 people in this area, this can be illuminated in the evenings with 240V or Solar festoon lighting. There is Tek-Dek ‘style’ flooring, offering a smart and comfortable appearance, this is easily maintained and cleaned. For convenience, you will also find a 240V Mains point with RCD protection, a gas locker with space for two gas bottles and an Alde bubble tester for gas safety purposes. There Is also a pan and tilt colour CCTV camera on the stern deck with mobile alerts, you can also communicate with visitors through this system.
General
BB has a mixture of windows and portholes, all the ‘Caldwells’ windows are double-glazed, thus maintaining heat in the boat whilst offering excellent security and eliminating noises from outside. All these windows can be easily removed (from the inside) for those hot summer days, we also have mosquito netting fixed within the window frame to keep the bugs at bay, this is fitted easily at the start of summer and removed during winter. There is also a side hatch in the kitchen area (starboard) which is great for feeding the ducks and swans and getting some fresh air in. She is sturdy enough so you don't rock like most boats do, in fact we often forget there is water beneath us until we look outside. Engineered oak flooring throughout the boat. With raised ‘gunnels’ there is extra headroom, even for the tallest of people, you don't need to duck your head with a ceiling height of 7.5ft (floor to ceiling). BB also features upgraded locks that are significantly more secure than the standard locks that come with these boats.
BB is also enabled with a fully automated smart home system that can turn on Webasto heating, hot water, lighting and even the electric blankets either via a timer or the mobile app (from anywhere in the world), this can also be controlled with voice commands via Alexa or Google Home very easily - this is all included in the sale. Furthermore, there are multiple entry point and movement detectors that alert your phone, these can all be controlled as per your pre-set activation times.
Galley
The boat is configured in a modern reverse layout, on entering through the stern deck you are presented with impressive White Gloss cabinets, supplied and fitted by Howdens (cost £12k), there is plenty of storage space and all cabinet doors are ‘soft close’. The appliances are all integrated into the kitchen units, including top of the range Neff electric fan oven, Neff gas hob with digital flame display and safety cut out along with Neff chimney extractor fan with cooking smells being extracted outside the boat. There is also a Hotpoint built-in microwave within the tower cabinet. Bosch washing machine, fridge and freezer (undercounter) and slimline dishwasher, again all appliances are integrated so your kitchen looks seamless. We also have 12V supplies wired in for the fridge and freezer, should you wish to modify it’s just ready to ‘plug and play’. Bespoke quartz worktops and upstands are fitted throughout the kitchen area, offering plenty of workspace and a breakfast bar area for up to 4 people. The glass splashback behind the hob helps keep surfaces clean when cooking.
Custom built solid oak staircase with piano hinges, each step opens to provide further deep storage space and also provides easy access to the filling loop valve for radiators. Custom fitted Roman blinds are on the two-kitchen window and curtains throughout the living area, with decorative brushed steel curtain poles and swish bars to keep the curtains tucked in and tidy. The port holes feature bungs for privacy, these have all been custom made and complement the stern deck upholstery.
Living Room
With 16’ of living space, the living area is larger than most boats. This area is awash with light, helped by four large windows plus an impressive skylight as a centre feature in the living area. Here there are two radiators, full mains wiring along with TV/aerial and internet connection points. There are cabinets fitted along the length of the boat and also a TV cabinet, there is also a collapsible desk for when you prefer to work in the living room. With so much space, you can easily personalise this area with your own furniture to make it how you wish. The Morso multi fuel burner is located in the corner of the room.
Office and Bedroom
The ‘pièce de résistance’ of Bumblee is the ‘one-off’, bespoke, switchable office to bedroom. The office was designed and built by a master craftsman and took months of planning and design, along with weeks of testing offsite. During the day, this is an open plan office for up to two people, with space for two laptops offering a huge and comfortable work area. The desk and wall panels are all made of American oak and provide a strong and solid workspace. This office has proved invaluable since working from home, it’s supported by mains power points throughout, USB connection points for charging phones etc and also optional RJ45 ethernet network cables should you want to be connected directly to your internet router for a completely uninterrupted connection. The custom built office also includes a bespoke 5 drawer cabinet (note the oak pattern line throughout all draws) which can be dismantled / stacked ‘draw by draw’, this is particularly useful when activating the bedroom and has been designed to slip under the lower bunk, hidden from view.
Behind the oak wall panels lie 2 beds, once the office has been closed down for the day the hidden bunks can be unclipped and dropped down to reveal two single beds which are slightly larger than a regular single bed. These are secured into space with cleverly designed hydraulic arms that support the bed weights as it is moved into position, therefore no slamming down and can be operated by one person. The bunks are supported by a ladder and safety rail for the upper bunk. This was completed for us in August 2021, so the beds are completely unused and in new condition. There are also 3 large double cupboards, featuring a mixture of hanging and shelf space.
Corridoor
As you walk towards the bedroom, you will find a custom built oak cabinet made especially for ladies shoes. Built in an art-deco style design which also doubles up as air vents, you can fit approx 25 pairs of shoes in this discreet storage space. In the same galley you will also find another storage cupboard for the vacuum and also coat hanging place plus a huge shelf to store larger items. This area also has a mains socket fitted for rechargeable vacuums.
Bathroom
The bathroom features Howdens bathroom furniture, with fitted cabinets offering plenty of storage and a further tall cabinet for towels etc. There are two ‘his and hers’ basins flanked by stunning Grohe mixer taps sitting atop Quartz stone, allowing the surface to keep clean and spotless. The 1200mm double shower offers plenty of space and comfort and features a Grohe rainshower and also a hand held shower, all operate via the Grohe thermostatic mixer unit which works effortlessly offering very comfortable showers with excellent pressure. The shower is also fitted with a sensor so you don't need to turn on a switch to operate the shower pump - the pump automatically starts operating as soon as it senses water. There is also a 12 extractor fan which exits via the mushroom vent. There is also a Vetus powered pump out toilet.
Master bedroom
This area features custom built sliding wardrobe and storage which come with the boat, the doors are a contemporary styled ‘tongue and groove’ finish offering plenty of shelves and hanging space within. Here the waste tank is cleverly hidden in the end cupboard and further noise proofed with additional covers so you can't actually see the tank unless you lift the removable panels. The Ottoman bed offers further storage space and is flanked by two oak bedside tables and space for drawer units. Hidden within the cabinets is an internet router and CCTV control system that provides excellent internet throughout the boat. Beneath the steps is further storage space and also houses the Vetus water pump and expansion valve.
Heating and Water
Bumblebee comes with an upgraded Webasto Thermo pro 90 diesel powered heater giving out 9 KW of heat to 5 oval column anthracite radiators and towel radiator in the bathroom, keeping you nice and warm during those winter months. It's usually enough to have the Webasto heating for a couple of hours in the morning and the fire in the afternoons and evenings. The Webasto system also warms the hot water system, enough hot water for a few showers. Hot water is generated through the calorifier, this can be heated via the Webasto, the Engine or AC mains. The Wifi controlled smart home system can be programmed to turn on during certain times of the day and can also be activated remotely via your app. There is also a fabulous Morso squirrel multi fuel burner in the living area, professionally fitted in Dec 2019, this burner provides a great deal of warmth during those cold winter months. It also has an easily removable external flue for when you're cruising. The system is also fitted with a water softener and limescale remover, this has significantly improved the water throughout the boat.
Bow area
The bow doors open up to the bow deck area which provides another vantage and seating point, there is plenty of space for a couple of chairs and a small table to enjoy a nice glass of Prosecco. Here you will also find the bow thrusters in the deck locker powered by two powerful cranking batteries. There is also a bow locker which has the space to store various items and can also store up to 200 wood logs - perfect storage place during the winter. In this area the internet and TV aerials are located, these can be lifted to a height of 3m which is great for picking up the best TV and mobile signals, this is easily removable or can be lowered should you require. The internet aerial is a Poynting, the router is a Huawei B525 which is extremely powerful - if you know, you know. The entire internet and TV aerial set up will be included in the sale, you just need to buy a SIM card for data.
Engine & Controls
She is a breeze to cruise thanks to the upgraded Canaline 60 HP inboard diesel engine, the engine has been serviced according to manufacturer specifications and has a 5 year warranty from 2019, the engine has very low hours - approx 200 hours at the time of writing this ad. When you cruise a 70ft boat widebeam you need a capable engine to cope with the weight and dimension, this engine fits the bill perfectly. It also has Vetus hydraulic wheel steering system and is also supplied with an emergency tiller (never used). Surprisingly, due to the width, the port side steering wheel has been excellent in cruising and allows for a clear line of sight for those tight bridges. There is a Vetus water lubricated Stern gland, this is great as there is no daily maintenance required, normally messy grease work! There are also 3x 110A leisure batteries + 1x 110A cranking battery for the engine. There is also a Vetus 95 KGF/12v Bow thruster installed, we don't normally use the bow thruster when cruising, it's mostly used to help when mooring. There are a further 2x 110A cranking batteries located adjacent to the Bow thruster. The engine bay is in pristine condition, it's cleaned regularly and also acts as a secondary storage space for many things!
BB’s electrics are powered by the Sterling 2500W ‘top of the line’ Pro Combi S alternator and charger, converting your 240V AC to 12V DC power. There is also a Aquafax galvanic Isolation that prevents galvanic corrosion when connected to shore power. There is also a Galvanic islotaor and annodes throughout, these annodes are bolt on therefore allowing easy replacement in water (shallow!) should the need arise. The vessel was dry docked in Nov 2023 and the hull was epoxy coated along with 4x new anodes,
