The Contessa 28 offers an excellent blend of solid performance and useful accommodation, offering up to six berths. Tamara is a Doug Peterson designed Jeremy Rogers built Contessa 28. She has been in very regular use the last five years (but not this season). With a sloop rig, a large overlapping roller reefing genoa, a 1.5 meter fixed lead keel, she sails very well and is a fantastic size for the solent and trips further afield with standing headroom. She has a sledon removable bowsprit fitted and asymmetric spinnaker as well as a traditional spinnaker set up. Contessa Yachts have a good reputation for producing good seaworthy yachts. The Contessa 28 was produced as a cruiser racer however they tend to be more cruised than raced but if you wanted to enter the yacht club regatta she would not disappoint. She has a reasonable sized cockpit with wide side decks making for easy access to the foredeck. She is a boat that can easily be single handed sailed but there is ample room for a crew of 5 or 6 if needed. The Contessa 28, which was designed by Doug Peterson, is the smaller sister to the Contessa 34. She is a very seaworthy boat with good windward performance. She has a deep cockpit with high sides, which is safe and comfortable. Below she has 6 berths. There are 2 in the forward cabin with the heads to starboard and storage opposite.
