The Gemini 105MC is the upgraded Gemini Catamaran, narrow enough to cruise European Canals to the Mediterranean and robust enough for crossing seas.
The Gemini 105Mc remains one of the most proven and popular catamarans ever built. Her sailing performance is legendary, the accommodations are spacious, light, and airy and the deck layout and rig offers a stable and safe platform for whatever comes your way.
The Gemini is packed with space and performance, with three double cabins, a separate shower and heads room, large galley with acres of worktop space and a saloon that comfortably seats six. It is no surprise these are popular long term cruising platforms and even liveaboard boats.
The ingenuity of lifting centreboards and kick-up rudders will have you sailing (and anchoring) in less than 2' of water. The lifting drive leg not only means that she slips through the water easily but there is also no danger of picking up lobster pots or other debris which gives a great feeling of security especially when sailing at night.
Her narrow beam of 14’ means she can tuck into a standard slip, lowering the cost of ownership.
The 3-cabin layout provides both comfort and privacy and the wet head is huge for a small boat. The C-shaped settee converts into a large bed for passages or extra guests. The large, propane-powered refrigerator provides ample space for food and beverages without draining batteries. With 6’ of headroom inside and up to 6’7” of headroom in the cockpit, guests can enjoy the panoramic windows without stooping.
We particularly love:
• The lifting drive unit – dead easy to operate and, combined with the centreboards and rudders which just rotate back if grounded, means that running aground or hitting anything is no longer a terror (not that I make a habit of it!!). Means you can anchor in really shallow water or take the beach.
• The fantastic visibility down “below” is not only a safety feature but really helps alleviate sea sickness.
• The helm position. You can be fully protected but in harbour you can stand on the side with 360 vis and steer with your foot. The steering is very light. When coming alongside or picking up a mooring you are looking straight down the side – so easy. The steerable drive unit further helps manoeuvring.
• The super entertaining spaces in the cockpit, the saloon or foredeck.
• The swimming steps
• The dolphin seats for – well – watching dolphins or just chilling
• The high-quality main luff cars which make raising and lowering the main a breeze
• When all the monohulls are rolling at anchor or mooring, Nora just sits there comfortably and quiet.
• The anchor you can operate from the helm or foredeck
• Everyone is sitting around the saloon table and you can still walk from the galley to the heads to the cabins without climbing over people
• Going “below” to the saloon is not “below” at all – it’s on the same level – just walk in
• For those chilly or wet evenings in spring and autumn (or winter) the cockpit can be fully enclosed, effectively making another living space
• Superb heating either from the engine or the powerful Eberspacher – great for 4 season sailing
• The engine and drive accessibility is far and above that of most boats, mono or cat, on the market
• And and and ………
NORA D, (named, bless, after the original (previous) owner’s mum) is a very smart well equipped and maintained boat that has had relatively light use and presents accordingly. She is based in Fowey and currently sailing south west coast ports.
