Golden Hind 31, classic wooden cruiser, designed by Maurice Griffiths and built by Terry Erskine Yachts Plymouth 1978 which could perhaps benefit from some over winter TLC.
Shoal draft combined with excellent sea keeping; in the last 15 years we have explored most of the Western Isles including some of the trickiest anchorages, as well as visiting St Kilda and the Orkneys. Configured for short/single handed cruising with all lines lead aft to the cockpit. Mainsail, furling genoa and cruising chute all in excellent condition. Full instrumentation including VHF with DSC/AIS and chart plotter plus Simrad tiller pilot. Comfortable long distance cruiser with pressurised hot and cold water system, central heating, cabin heater, 350l fresh water and 70l diesel tanks.
Powered by the original Bukh 20 marine diesel, with recent top overhaul and running well.
Ashore near Oban.
I really don't want to part with my wonderful Hind but the passage of one's own years is what determines when one has to say......I have no option. I would like the Golden Hind to go to a like minded appreciative and likely younger sailor, who will recognise the classic lines and abilities of this cherished little sailing ship.
The option may exist to utilise the current storage and mooring arrangements with the very friendly boat yard in Scotland. I think it will be as easy as asking the owner of the yard. The sailing opportunities in the Inner Hebrides are probably second to none in the UK and will provide years of enjoyment for any sailor looking for great sailing conditions and wonderful scenery.
