Hallberg Rassy 352 (Scandanavia version) "Andante Cantabile"
Our much loved HR352, Andante Cantabile, is for sale. The sailing ability and comfort of the HR352 is well known, but we think this boat has that something extra. She is the actual yacht that Hallberg Rassy exhibited at the 1986 Southampton Boat Show and her interior reflects the attention to detail the company put into their 'show boat'. She also reflects the continuous improvements that were made during the 14 years the boat was in production: she has the larger skylight in the saloon giving increased natural light, the increased volume and headroom, improvements to the galley working area, and the separate entrance ladder.
Due to unforseen circumstances, Andante has been ashore for the past two seasons, but we have taken that opportunity to undertake some improvements. The hull has been completely scraped back - we were intending to copper coat but changed our minds - and a new epoxy coat has been applied under the new antifoul. We have also replaced the original seacocks with Marlon seacocks. The deck has had maintenance work to deal with any loose caulking and popped screw heads. We are currently in the process of replacing the fuel hoses and breather pipes to the requisite ISO standard, and installing a fuel shut off. The insurance survey identified that the cutless bearing needed replacing and this has been done.
Other improvements that we have undertaken: the replacement of the original engine with a Beta 35 installed in 2019. In 2022 we replaced the original fixed blade propellor with a Darglow Featherstream Feathering 4 blade propellor and installed a new gearbox, further enhancing her performance. As our sailing adventures tend to have us anchoring in remote locations, she has an 18kg Knox anchor with 40m of 10mm chain plus 40m of heavy multiplait rode - the anchor has never dragged.
Andante is emerging from under cover now and is scheduled to go back into the water on 31 July. And due to further changes in circumstances, she is up for sale!
