"This is the only boat I'd ever live on." - quote from many of our landlubber friends.
After 3 years on this beautiful Dutch Barge, Coral, we have decided to move continents and can't take Coral with us.
This spacious, elegant boat has been loved by many previous owners, including us, each whom have brought their own style and care to the space. Previous to us were interior designers who took their time with beautiful recycled woodwork detailing, copper inspired decorations, and stylish touches. We have focused on upgrading all essential systems to be top spec - including the solar and electrics system (Victron) which we use to both work from home with no issues at all, our engine has been maintained to a high specification, refurbishment of starter motor, entirely new gas system completed by a highly rated Gas Safe Engineer, a recently new compost toilet from Simploo, and refurbished woodwork within the wooden wheelhouse. We are proud of the work we have invested in, and have confidence that our time on this boat has been positive for her longevity and health.
In terms of how the boat is laid out:
Gulley:
- You step onto a gulley from which you can access the engine room which also contains the fuel tank and some shelving for tools.
- From this gulley you also drive the boat.
Wheelhouse/Living room
- Spacious wheelhouse which has been converted into a living room.
- The roof of this space is removeable to lower the draft of the boat to pass under low bridges (we found this most necessary up the River Storte and in far West London).
- Below the living room is the engine, also accessible via lifting a flap in the floor for easier access to the top of the engine.
- Also below this is the water tank and water pump, accessible through another flap, very easily.
- This space easily fits a sofa and has space for a dining table - we use a foldaway one to keep the space convertible.
- The space is surrounded by windows and feels light and airy.
Kitchen
- You step slightly down into the kitchen area which is where the parquet flooring begins, and continues throughout the rest of the boat.
- Ample storage space including cupboards, and hanging space.
- There is a 3 hob set up (serviced Feb 2026 and in perfect working order), with space for an oven (we even have one ready but never finished installing it).
- The hot water boiler has been serviced this year (February 2026) and is in perfect working order as well. the counters are all solid wood and well maintained.
- There is a breakfast bar which seats 2.
- There is also a sky light in here for ventilation, which is really convenient.
- The kitchen contains the diesel heater - very fuel efficient and reliable.
- There are two large windows, one of which opens wide, offering plenty of light and ventilation to the space.
Main Bedroom:
- This is next to the kitchen, and conveniently close to the diesel heater, which is great!
- Double bed, with large amount of storage space beneath.
- Across from the bed are cupboards and drawers, and a counter top which can be used as a desk or as a large bedside table.
- There are two large windows in this room, offering lovely natural light to this space, and one of which opens wide.
Bathroom:
- Contains a small sink which is made of hammered copper and is in itself a small piece of art
- Contains a shower which is tiled beautifully.
- Plenty of shelving
- Compost toilet – purchased in autumn 2025, from Simploo, and has a ventilation system so doesn’t smell at all and is really convenient.
- Has a large wardrobe for additional storage
Second bedroom/small office
- Has a multi fuel stove, a Boatman.
- 3 large porthole windows and 1 little one.
- A set of large window / doors which you can climb out of if you want, which were made in 2025 to high specifications by an excellent carpenter.
- Folding desk made of recycled beautiful wood.
- Space for a small single bed (we have a chaise long which folds out into a single bed which we use for guests, which fits perfectly).
