Description:
A beautiful traditional barge, fully converted into an extremely comfortable home. She has been fully overplated in 2021 with 6mm steel and therefore will provide many more years of pleasure for her new owner. 'Snipe' was converted in the mid-1990s by her previous owner from a basic iron hull. He sourced the 1930s Lister engine and then built all that you see, including the bespoke interior which has been hand-built from reclaimed timber. The previous owner and his wife lived on her for 20 years, until 2016 when her current owner purchased her. Her current owner has had her fully painted externally twice, whilst maintaining her traditional colours, and has modernised some of the systems onboard. She is an extremely dry boat being fully insulated and all the windows/frames were recently serviced. She is also very bright & airy with full standing headroom throughout.
Improvements made since 2016:
• New self-raising hatch/companionway cover made
• New canvas covers made in the boat's traditional colour
• Electrical system updated
• New shower cubicle and electric toilet fitted
• Redecorated internally
• Inverter & charger fitted
• new chimney, ariel, washing machine, ropes, fenders, guardrails, anodes, galvanic isolator, bilge pumps & water pumps
• Windows serviced and outer rubbers replaced
Improvements made since 2020:
• Taken to Sandwich under her own power, dry-docked and replated below the waterline with 6mm steel plate. This was overseen by the surveyor. A second galvanic isolator was fitted along with 10 zinc anodes. A post-works survey was then carried out (a copy of which is available). A new shore power fitting supplied which has better all-weather capabilities.
