Westereover presents a unique opportunity to live a luxurious life onboard a historic and interesting little ship.
Built in 1937, she was surveyed in 2020 and (due in no small part to the hull being “hot-sprayed” with an aluminium and zinc covering when built) she showed no signs of thickness loss. As such, you’ll be owning an old and beautiful boat without the associated welding headaches.
Inside she has been lovingly and sympathetically modernised with everything you need to live full-time on board, enjoying the same standard of comfort you’d get on land.
Oak floors throughout and a show-stopping skylight, the wheelhouse makes a wonderful living room. Power comes from 1kw of solar input going into 550ah of lithium batteries. All equipment and furniture is included (we will dispose of the mattress before she goes).
Hot water instantly arrives on demand from the gas boiler, so you can enjoy the lovely roll-top bath whenever you like (she also has the biggest water tank I’ve ever seen on a boat, well over 1000ltrs).
In the spring and autumn months, the wood and coal burning stove in the snug provides plenty of heat for the whole boat, then when the dark days of winter ascend, you can fire up the one in the wheelhouse and dance around in your underwear.
Power comes from a gorgeous Peugeot six cylinder diesel inboard which is in lovely running order. We have cruised the boat from Hemel Marina right into Central London and we haven’t yet met a bridge we were unable to get under, however it is tight, she’s right on the limit. She is a very capable and powerful boat if your plan is to use her on the Thames or any waterway more challenging than the canal.
I will pay for the boat to be lifted for survey, blacking and anodes will be done before she leaves and delivery is possible anywhere to a craning off point in the UK for a fee.
