The Hustler 35 is an all GRP yacht, designed by Don Pye, of Holman and Pye. They were produced from 1970 until around 1978. The Tyler Boat Company produced the first 38 hull and deck mouldings, for fitting out by Landamore's.
The design was aimed at the fast cruising market, but they were quickly used for racing, being an excellent heavy weather boat. They feature a large sheltered cockpit with huge cockpit lockers. Down below, Hustler 35's are well fitted out with 5, 6 or 7 berths, enclosed heads, full size chart table, and plenty of storage.
Eala Bhan (white swan) has been a joy to own and sail. She is a beautiful boat to admire as you row ashore. If you are not familiar with these boats then think Contesa 32 but with greater length, far more beam and significantly more space, a real sailor’s boat ready for adventure. She has an enormous amount of stowage space. This boat has been kitted out with high quality Harken equipment and with the Danish Sailtainer in boom reefing/furling she is very easily handled single handed or by a couple. I was initially unsure of the in-boom furling but it has proved to be totally reliable and easily used even in windy conditions. The Monitor windvane self-steering is also easy to set up and use and very effective. I intended to fit solar panels but have found that the Ampair 100 wind generator met our needs even when using a travel fridge (not included). The engine, saildrive and folding prop perform well and give good manoeuvrability ahead and astern in confined spaces. She sails like a dream and goes to windward like a train. All in all a great boat which has been continually used and maintained. I am a boatbuilder and run a small boatyard.
