Converted Fishing trawler ideal for cruising and/or live aboard. Built in 1958 by the world renowned Macduff shipyards in Aberdeenshire, Challenge is now a proud member of the National Historic Ships register. After 50 years in the fishing industry it was bought by the current owner and over a five year period was restored and converted for private use. During the last 10 years the vessel has been cruised extensively around the UK and Ireland as well as a foray into the Netherlands and has been much admired wherever it has been.
The deck house comprises the wheelhouse and galley. The wheelhuouse has been much upgraded and boasts all the equipment required for sea going cruising including auto pilot, chart plotter, radar, compass, AIS, 2 vhf radios, depth sounder, gps, navtex, hydraulic wheel steering, engine instruments, rudder position indicator, air horn, epirb, fire extinguishers and two fully adjustable and rotating chairs The galley has a sink, two burner hob, mini oven, table, and cupboards. Lighting is by led units.
Down below starting forward is a bow locker containing the anchor windlass and 100 metres of !/2" galvanised chain connected to a modern 40kg Rocna anchor. this area also is used for storage. Next is the master bedroom containing a large double bed with drawers under, a vanity unit with sink, wardrobe and stainless steel lined shower. next is the main saloon with bench seat (converts to Single berth) with storage under, floor level cupboards, wall mounted tv and solid fuel stove. Off this area is a heads with Jabsco electric toilet and wash basin. also off this area is a utility room with washing machine, storage and hanging space.
Next going aft is the engine room housing the propulsion system, a Gardner 6LXCT 150 hp diesel engine and Twin Disc MG509 gearbox. Twin 550 L fuel tanks, two 24 volt battery banks charged by twin alternators, Mastervolt shore powered smart charger, Calorifier and 6KVA Hyundai generator. Also shelving for storing. Aft of this is the crew quarters which remain largely the same as when the boat was built and are currently used for storage and siting of the twn 220 L water tanks. Another solid fuel stove.
On deck there is a locker for the calor gas bottle, a 12 foot fibreglass tender and many warps and fenders.
