OWNERS COMMENTS
Following a satisfactory survey, we purchased Carraig (previous names Eric the Scop, and Summersalt) in winter 2014, and commenced cruising 2015, maintain her continuous UK Certificate of Registry and purchase history. When bought, she was berthed in the Suffolk Yacht Harbour. Carraig has a cavernous capacity with an old style layout. Despite a short keel, we found that she sails better than expected being stable and stiff on account of her hull shape, especially on the beam. The high centre cockpit keeps us dry and when “clipped on” very safe, indeed all main control halyards and sheets can be worked here in the cockpit, with little need to venture for’d to reef and adds to the safety features, such that we feel confident at sea, regularly and comfortably sailed single handed.
Based in the Clyde, Carraig has been cruised extensively, sailed around the UK, Ireland’s east Coast and Scotland’s West Coast with English Channel crossings to the Scillies, Channel Islands and Northern France. Carraig allows us to live aboard for extended periods. We have logs for every season.
Each year, Carraig is laid up ashore under a tarpaulin (October - April), connected to shore power & heating, on the hard at James Watt Dock, Greenock.
