One of only 9 built A505 is probably the best and most original example of this rare lifeboat. Most of the work required to finish this boat is in the cockpit. Both Enfield outdrive legs are fitted and functional. .
The Mclachlan is in exceptional condition generally. The hull is excellent, we have painted it in 2 pack epoxy and it looks superb. We have the original Watermota engines, they were both seized and we’ve stripped and freed one of them but have decided to replace the block. We have bought another block for this engine and we expect that the other engine may also require the same treatment. These are Ford crossflow engines that are easily available at reasonable money. The deck needs replacing, as does the engine room bulkhead and the side lining. The console needs re-skinning and a new bottom frame fitted. The foam buoyancy is all ok and the fuel tank looks good. There will be some wiring and piping to renew but generally a good carpenter and mechanic wouldn’t take very long to get this boat back to new condition. She’s a stunning boat.
As the boat is currently stored in one of our workshops everything is dry and it's an ideal time to get the remainder of the woodwork finished and coated ready for sea. Some outside storage could be arranged if required and as we spend much of our time restoring historic lifeboats we would be happy to quote for any of the work the new owner prefers to pass on.
Viewing is possible 0800 to 1700hrs, Mon to Fri and possibly outside these hours by arrangement. We are based 5 miles from J13/M5.
We will include cranage on to your vehicle (or deck) as part of the sale.
