Comfortable and sea-kindly when cruising offshore, yet for many an out-and-out racer, the Sigma 38 also provides ample accommodation for large groups or families. This classic fast One-Design racer-cruiser was designed by David Thomas and was originally owned by Owen Asher.
For weekend or longer family cruises, her stability, generously wide side decks and dry ride in a seaway make her reassuring and undemanding. Around the cans, however, she remains capable of impressively sporty racing performance. Her wheel steering, tall rig and deep keel combine to create an excellent balance in the design.
A secure full-length pilot berth forms part of the saloon, complementing comfortable living accommodation arranged across three additional cabins.
Fully set up for distance cruising, she has served as an expedition boat for South Devon Marine Academy and counts a circumnavigation of the UK among her historic accolades. Earlier, when known as Yeoman XXVIII, she was chartered by the Royal Family and is understood to have been a particular choice of HRH Prince Phillip. Now named ‘Aspiration of Dart’, she remains a fine example of the classic model in her original light green livery.
Completed 2024 Round the Island Race and finished 3rd in her class in 45 knot winds. Also completed 2025 round the Island Race
