Holy Loch Clyde Argyll and Bute UK|
Southerly 95 Swing Keel Motor Sailer Immaculate conditionInside Helm plus Tiller in the cockpit, Autopilot, superbly comfortable interior, Heating, Shower, great Galley, Powerful Engine (capable of being hand started).
Owned by me for 18months, much time and money has been spent bringing her up to, and back to, how she should be .
"Mistroma" had one owner for 24 years who sailed her 20,000 miles and maintained her to a remarkably high standard, much positive information ie. sailing and renewals can be found on the web - just search for "Mistroma" .
Since purchase I have fitted a replacement 24 HP BUKH engine - (the original was 20 HP) and a myriad of other works all carried out undercover last winter. Pictures speak louder than words so please have a look, then email me with any questions.
Sellers often enhance descriptions:- this vessel has defied the aging process, unfortunately I have not, also demands for my time mean I am unable to use the boat more than a few hours at a time - hence no excuse to keep her, but no rush to sell.
I will not attempt to cover all the positive benefits of a solidly built swing keel Motorsailer yacht -ie from doing rather well in club races to securing the boat in the shallows by the mangroves preparing for a tropical hurricane!!
The Southerly 95 is noted as being a much faster sailing vessel then its predecessor the Southerly 28;- the newer Southerly 100 with its shallow motorboat style rudder is thought to be less well mannered than this Southerly 95.
Please take a moment to examine the condition and quality of "Mistromas" woodwork, the following photographs may bear more than a favorable comparison with other vessels condition that you may be considering future involvement with.
Should you decide to purchase there is a 3/4 full diesel tank and nothing left on my pending or "to do" list .
Now undercover in Holy Loch Marina for winter 2019 - spring 2020, she awaits your inspection in the dry well lit boat shed .

Accomodation in this vessel is one of her principal features -Attractive green covered Alcantara settee cushions -all professionally recovered including new foam.
Entering the saloon the galley is to port as is the quarter berth , the shower and sea toilet are to starboard, with full headroom you descend two steps to go to the saloon where the "U" shaped dinette is to port with height adjustable table, this is virtually a separate area from the starboard settee and passage way to the forecabin -incidentally there is a saloon table extension should you wish to host a large dinner party then the starboard setee is used for seated diners . Should a very large double berth be desired ! the saloon table drops level to the setees and infill cushions with the same Alcantara finish fill the entire area .
The inner helm and helmpersons seat is at the higher level ie. to stbd of the galley .
The forecabin is through closeable, doors there are 2 berths -lower one to port, upper to starboard -each berth has through hull windows and curtains. There is an opening hatch above, complete with blind .
Lockerage throughout is unusually good - a stowage plan may prevent you misplacing items.
Removable Sun shields are fitted to all windows and will be a factor to her astonishing condition .
Hull and superstructure are of heavy duty hand lay up GRP The deck is bonded to the hull (no leaks)
The aerofoil section Swing Keel is pivoted and is within a massive cast iron grounding plate -the theory is the vessel can (with the keel raised) dry out on the grounding plate and normally no legs are required, the boat remaining upright. The long term owner undertook a rebuild and modification of the keel assembly in conjunction with Northshores advice resulting in a better than new lifting arrangement . The last owner had the hydraulic ram for keel lifting rebuilt -Kevlar pennants are fitted.
Mistroma is well equipped
The D3 Eberspacher delivers hot air to all areas including the shower compartment - ideal to dry wet gear as an electric shower sump pump can remove excess water.
The cool box refrigeration unit works well and when setting the thermostat sensibly, uses only reasonable amounts of battery power. The gimbled Marine cooker with flame safe protection and electric igniter is only around 2 years old . - a new gas sniffer is fitted. 2 gas bottles are carried in the vented stern locker.
Pressurised hot and cold water is fed to the galley mixer tap and the basin and shower in the heads . (we drink the water from the tank- untainted taste)
DSC VHF is new, the chart plotter has a its UKcard, there is a Sumlog speed and distance log, a depth unit with its repeater at the chart table , the Nasa Volt and amp power meter allow you to closely monitor usage and the rates of discharge and charge. The ship has shorepower with breakers and an automatic shorepower charger providing either a maintenance charge (when unattended) or a boost or equalising charge when required - there are numerous 13 amp sockets throughout the vessel.
Autopilot controls are at the control unit in the cockpit .
The Sprayhood in tan Sumbrella is new and of great benefit keeping the companionway dry .
Anchor rope and rode are very recent as is the heavier than specified anchor which self stows in the bow roller, there is no anchor windlass but the recessed foredeck well allows you to safely sit and manually pull in the anchor with feet firmly braced . A substantial Bruce anchor + chain and warp are included as a Kedge.
I will not list every included item of the sale -please come and have a chat if interested .
The Original Bukh DV20 was running well but as with any raw water cooled engine the water passages reduce over time with silt, rust and salt - It was decided to fit a Bukh DV24 supplied by Marine Enterprise - these engines are ex ships lifeboat units that were keel cooled meaning they were NOT salt water cooled so effectively new in the all important cooling passages, plus only run to meet the ships survey requirements ie perhaps less than 200 hours running time in total . Marine Enterprise then convert the engines back to the spec Mistroma had from new, ie raw water cooled with thermostatic control and anodic corrosion protection.
An oil pressure gauge is fitted and provides assurance of mechanical well being.
Before fitting the engine, the engine bay including sterngear was refurbished - new sound deadening and much wiring were renewed -the last owner replaced the exhaust water trap - the fuel tank is stainless steel which may be a replacement since first built.
All engine flexible feet are new . All 3 batteries were renewed, LED lighting is installed throughout the vessels interior.
Mast dropped and inspected 2018/19 Standing rigging reported as being renewed 2006 , Sails reported as being renewed 1995 -UV strip restitched 2019 .
Mainsail 3 reef points 177 sq ft
Genoa 402 sq ft roller furling
Genoa pole on mast traveller.
Mainsail fully battened, with cars and stackpack -solid rod kicker.
New deck floodlight and wiring.
Horseshoe lifebuoy and light
standard guardrails surround the deck with pulpit and pushpit at bow and stern , a folding boarding ladder is on the port transom .
An out of date liferaft can be included with the boat but is not part of the sale ie should be either removed or serviced.
