A beautiful example of this Classic 1974 Sparkman and Stephens S+S Sagitta 35
Well maintained and upgraded, this vessel has been used for local club racing, family cruising and deep offshore passage making. Those familiar with the Sagitta design will know that they are a fast, seaworthy boat with a history of circumnavigation.
This Sagitta 35 was built in Denmark in 1974, sails really well upwind and is an exceptional sea boat, all trademarks of the legendary Sparkman and Stephens design (#2008).
She was built as a racer /cruiser in 1974 and is a beautiful well-proportioned boat with a spacious cockpit. The Sagitta 35 is easy on the eye and offers a fabulous, solid sailing performance. A rare classic not often on the market in the UK so an opportunity not to be missed for those who lean toward traditional yachts of the 70’s and 80’s.
This Sagitta 35 offers a fin keel, tiller steering, and a Volvo Penta engine (2030).
She was re-rigged in 2023 and has slab mainsail reefing and harken headsail furling, her main and genoa are 2016 and 2024.
Slamat has been in her current ownership for 9 years and has been lovingly restored and maintained during that ownership; she has sailed extensively including around the UK and Ireland, down to Portugal, around the Canaries, Cape Verde, Azores and returned to the UK in 2024. She is reluctantly for sale as cruising plans have changed.
This Sagitta 35 had an osmosis treatment by the previous owner and was sand blasted, skimmed and copper epoxied in 2017. She has been well cared for and has silver spray hood, sail covers and Bimini with matching side / rear panels. She is VAT paid and has all the supporting paper work.
Slamat has had her 2024/5 winter refit works done with engine service, new cutlass bearing, anodes, 2 coats antifouling and hull polish and is afloat.
In January 2025 a full out of water survey was completed which may be available from the YDSA surveyor.
She is available to view on the river Medina, Isle of Wight. Easy access by Red Jet from Southampton

A beautiful example of this classic 1974 Sparkman and Stephens Sagitta 35
Well maintained and upgraded, Slamat has been used for local club racing, family cruising and deep offshore passage making. Those familiar with the Sagitta design will know that they are fast, seaworthy boats with a history of circumnavigation.
We have owned Slamat since 2016 and have cruised locally, in Ireland, France and all the Atlantic Islands groups. She has proved easy to sail, reliable and resilient, providing all the comforts on passage, at anchor or in a marina. Although not rated, a sister vessel has a great IRC rating and impressive racing history
Planning to cruise further from home, it is time for Slamat to move on.
Layout
Anchor locker and chain storage, V berth with hatch and shelves forward, heads with sink and storage to port, hanging locker to starboard. Door into saloon with teak folding table, extending settee benches / bunks both sides with lea cloths. To starboard is a book shelf and dedicated bar and glass cabinet, to port a pilot berth with lea cloth used as storage. Chart table with stowage and tool drawers under to port, galley to starboard. Nice quarter berth with hatch aft and large stowage area. The forward and main cabin are heated by Webasto ducted hot air.
Internal finish is in Burmese teak with plenty of storage.
The galley has more good storage with cupboards and drawers and a gimbled double burner gas hob. The fridge with an isotherm ASU unit has a stainless-steel lined compartment with shelf. The sink has fresh water feed with the bin and stowage below.
Water tank (120lt) and fuel tank (80lt) are of stainless steel and located under the saloon bench seating.
Engine, Battery and Navigation
The Volvo Penta 2030 engine is fresh water cooled, well maintained and reliable. 2 X 105a house bank batteries feed the daily requirements with a separate engine start battery. 120w solar with Victron mppt regulator maintains the batteries while the engine alternator or shore power Mastervolt charger provide bulk power. This is controlled by a Merlin smart charge monitor with voltage and percentage digital display. Shore power by dedicated cable and deck fitting to 2 x internal power sockets. In the marina an electric kettle, toaster and blow heater can be used for convenience.
Wind depth and speed are displayed via ST50 instruments, relayed to the Vespa AIS transponder and all data broadcast wirelessly to tablet or phone. There is an onboard chart plotter as backup, fixed VHF radio and Navtex for weather offshore. 2 x tactical compasses located in the cockpit help with windward work and identifying wind shifts. Analogue clock, barometer and hydrometer/thermostat are on the forward bulkhead. Masthead tricolour light and anchor light. Masthead strobe. Dedicated masthead AIS aerial and VHF aerial. Wind instrument and Windex. Steaming light and deck light. Rail height navigate lights for steaming. All bulbs internal and external are marine LED.
Deck
The tiller helm is direct on the rudder stock giving a great feeling between helm and boat. Being easily stowed it allows full use of the large cockpit with cockpit cushions and a varnished, removable cockpit table. A large lazarette stows all needed items comfortably including cleaning items, warps, fenders, spare lines, spare fuel can etc etc. Power deck wash with various hoses for cockpit, deck and anchor wash. The cockpit is well protected by a new 2022 sprayhood. Sun protection under sail or engine is by custom Bimini with detachable side and back 2023. Ray marine tiller pilot, Anderson primary, Lewmar secondary winches. Harken main track and detachable 6:1 mainsheet in the cockpit.
The rig is a Proctor mast and boom and pole with all new standing rigging and turnbuckles 2023. Forestay with Harken Mk3 twin groove roller furler. Backstay with tensioner. Running rigging has been replace on an ongoing basis, some new 2024. Lazy jacks for main sail storage. All sun covers, Bimini, sprayhood, sail cover etc are in Silver.
Delta anchor with 15m chain and 30m nylon rode. Bow roller and chain stop.
Sails
New, unused No1 Genoa, Dacron, triradial cut, UV stitching, foam luff and sun cover. Used laminate No1 with sun cover. Laminate No2 at 90% sun cover foam luff. Dacron No3 good condition 50%. Large 140% Dacron triradial cut 2 weight with foam luff. Cruising chute in a sock and symmetric spinnaker. Mainsail is Neil Pryde, in good condition, battens and 3 x reef points. Storm jib and Trysail stowed onboard.
Refit works
Since ownership (2016) refits have seen the hull shot blasted and faired with multiple layers of Copper epoxy applied as base coat. Current antifouling being a copper based hard. The keel bolts have been removed, inspected and replaced, and the mild steel mast base replaced with a vacuum bagged composite replica. At the same time the mast was rewired with a new tricolour, VHF and AIS aerial and strobe (2017). Later refits include new batteries (2021) battery management systems, new electronic navigation systems new transducers, electrical switching, all led light replacement, new navigation lights and deck painting, new standing rigging and turnbuckles (2023) and other items.
