The Westerly Konsort Duo, a much sought-after motor-sailer, was designed following extensive market research primarily focusing on the needs of two people. One of its unique features is the 4’ 6” full width double bed in the forward cabin; there is ample headroom throughout. Occasional guests can be accommodated in a single ‘pilot’ berth and the dinette converts to another double. The type was produced 1984 – 1988. The hull form is the same as the standard Konsort giving good sailing performance. The large deckhouse saloon offers excellent all-round vision and features a linear galley with comfortable seating positions and a dinette that sits 4 in comfort. The outside tiller and inside wheel steering positions are fully instrumented with engine controls. The larger engine (than the standard Konsort) provides ample power through the 3 bladed propeller.
WHISTLER is a particularly good example of the type. The current owner (2019) has steadily improved the boat with a shipwright’s and marine engineer’s skills and a yacht-master’s eye for detail. Headline improvements are 12 volt electrics distribution and fuse panel renewed (2020), synthetic teak decking (2020),160 watt solar panel (2021), batteries – 4 x 110 Ah (2021), standing rigging and sails (2022), running rigging updated as necessary, cooker and fridge (2022), hull blasted clean and re-epoxied (2022), bow thruster (2022), bespoke Bimini (2023), cockpit shower and speakers (2024). The Volvo D 1-30 engine was fitted in 2009 along with new interior linings and upholstery.
The shallow draft with bilge keels is perfect for exploring creeks and inlets as well as extended cruising with the ability to dry out. Well-equipped and in very good condition, WHISTLER bristles with owner pride, is from the era that featured solid build and seaworthiness and is ready to go in all respects following her full annual service.
