This Golden Hind 31 is a restoration project. The owner tells me that this particular hull was moulded by Skentelbery of Plymouth about 1990, to an improved customer specification, for his own completion. This is a 1964 Norwegian built wooden boat that was designed and built to be used primarily on lakes. She has a Norwegian pine hull with mahogany topsides. The windows are toughened glass. There is no gearbox as such, the boat is fitted with a pitch propeller system which takes a little bit of getting used to! This is a really classic Traditional Mid Engined Tug style boat built in 1994 with a beautiful 1952 Gardner. The engine was rebuilt by Danny Williamson in 1995. The boatman's cabin adds to the classic feel of the boat and she has lots of internal space. This is a great example of the very popular but hard to come by, Cox 27 Family Fisher. The boat was re-fitted in 2011 and had a new 70hp Yanmar engine fitted in 1993. She is copper coated and is just about to go back into the water for the season. The owner had the boat surveyed when he bought it and there were a number of jobs that needed doing and they were all carried out by Morgan Marine prior to completion. The boat has just been surveyed 21st October 2025 and has also just been blacked at the same time. This 2003 semi trad narrowboat was built by Caulden Boatbuilders and fitted out and sold by Midway Boats of Nantwich. The boat was last blacked in 2021 so is due for blacking. The hull should polish up nicely with a buffer and the cockpit tent could do with a professional clean and treatment.
