RAMILLE was built for Colonel O H Bayldon of the Royal Thames and Royal Motor Yacht Clubs in 1938 to a design by C W Burnard of Itchenor. She was built by Willam Osborne Ltd. Arun Shipyard, Littlehampton. The brief was to design a modern motor-yacht for continental cruising over many months and RAMILLE incorporated many quite novel features for the time, including automatic steering, forward observation cockpit and gas-powered domestic equipment.
