BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE VESSEL Mr Toad is a 10.7m X 2.5m steel Dutch barge believed to have been manufactured in 1910 but her original builder is unknown. She is powered by a single Mercedes four cylinder water cooled marinised diesel engine which provides propulsion direct to the propeller via a gearbox and shaft; the year of manufacture of the engine is also unknown but, I suspect, that it is not the original and that it was probably fitted post manufacture.
