MFV Jasmine (BA 55 + CN110)
Built in 1958, by Alexander Noble’s yard in Girvan, Scotland, Jasmine is a 54.5 ft long, 16ft beam fishing boat built for ring-netting herring. A seaworthy vessel last surveyed in 2014. When she was decommissioned she was used by a wildlife trust to run trips whale and dolphin watching.
We bought Jasmine in 2016 partially converted and refitted her to become a cosy live aboard vessel, with an open plan living space leaving plenty of room to enjoy her incredible construction. She currently has 4 berths but could easily sleep more. We used reclaimed Hardwood for all of the interior fit out. Either American Oak or Mahogany strip flooring.
The main master cabin in the fore has a full size double bed and ottaman style under bed storage. Fitted reclaimed oak side lockers and old apothecary unit as storage. The larch beams have been sandblasted and left exposed and waxed to showcase the incredible construction of this amazing vessel.
Additional storage space in passageway with hanging rail and built in under seat lockers and Blakes diesel heater.
The Heads include an original brass Baby Blake sea toilet, an antique wooden water closet for storage and a bespoke cornish granite corner shower tray and full length mirrors.
The main fish hold has been converted into an open plan living space with lounge and dining area. A coach house roof lifts the area to 2 m high. Leather cushions throughout and under cushion storage around the perimeter of the saloon. A section of the lounge area has also been designed to become the second single bunk. There is also a separate single cabin/coffin bunk along the starboard side of the main saloon.
The galley includes a full sized cooker and fridge and mini freezer and cupboard space. Up through the companion way to the large open plan wheelhouse and helm. The bunks/lockers and bulkheads are clad throughout with reclaimed oak.
She has a Gardner 6LXB engine in full working. Starts and runs as good as the day it left the factory. She is currently pontoon berthed near Falmouth, Cornwall. The berth is not residential, although occasional overnight stays are permitted. We would consider a PX on another boat, camper or W.H.Y.
