Description

Hound Dog (GBR9537) is a very well-maintained boat which has been under the current owners for 9 years. Hound Dog is a 1980 boat with a fully prepared hull and keel and a new Mark 2 rudder fitted in 2021.

The Impala 28 is designed by David Thomas in 1977, built by Hunter Boats and selected that year by the Offshore One-Design Conference as one of their three Offshore One-Designs, the Hunter Impala OOD one of the finest and most successful small cruiser-racers of all time and still an eligible IRC one-design. Impala Nationals are a highlight of the year and great fun when racing within your own fleet. You learn a lot!!!

2015/16 – New Garmin Navigation System with Plotter, instruments, wind sensors and Fusion Stereo
2016/17 – New Lewmar coach roof winches plus shot blasted the keel and epoxied
2017/18 – NEW North 3DI Main and No1 Headsail
2018/19 – New mark two rudder fitted
2019/20 – Interior upgrades and painting
2020/21 – Second Hand North IRC Kite and the standard rigging changed after the insurance survey.
2021/22- New J2 North Jib plus new IRC spinnaker pole
2022/23 – New IRC North Kite plus second-hand North A-sail

Round the Island: 32nd Overall IRC 2023 and 11th overall in 2019
Impala Nationals 4th in 2023 with the award for most improved boat
IRC Cert 2023 makes Hound Dog the best-rated Impala with two ratings 0.870 (Jib only) and 0.877 (Genoa)
Full set of interior cushions included in Blue, only used for the Nationals and kept in the attic.
