Construction: Professionally built in Findhorn, Morayshire in 1993 by a master builder for his own use and refurbished in 2013, Highland Yankee is formed from Bruynzeel marine plywood with extensive teak finish. Vertical lifting keel wood and lead sheathed in epoxy resin. 1100lb of ballast is built in to the bilge area in order to keep weight low for stability and enhanced performance. Good cockpit storage lockers port and starboard. Decks 9mm covered in epoxy Eglass cloth. 4 HP Mercury 2-stroke in well with prop protected by a skeg which runs fore and aft and supports the lower part of the kick-up rudder enabling Highland Yankee to be beached safely.
exterior: Rigged with all control lines led aft to the cockpit. Headsail (2010) roller reefing. Main fully battened. Cruising chute red, white and blue ‘stars and stripes’. 15lb anchor stowed in well set flush on foredeck. Bow roller. Pushpit and pulpit. Bracket for outboard to tender. Bulkhead compass.
Interior: Sleeps four in two bunks port and starboard, double for’d. Galley midships with gimballed cooker to port and plumbed-in sink to starboard. Escape hatch for’d. Space for portable toilet under cockpit. Access to all parts of the hull via storage hatches located below the bunks.
